Serket Jewelry is a home-based business that was launched in the Fall of 2009. The name "Serket" is an Egyptian name of the scorpion-goddess; protector and healer to all mankind. Serket's name means, "the one who causes the throat to breathe". This name was chosen in respect to the definition and an infatuation for Egyptian art and culture.
Serket Jewelry believes that one of the best ways to communicate who we are is through what we are wearing. It is inevitable to wear clothing however; to wear jewelry comes from our comprehension and admiration for beauty and the necessity for personal expression to the world. Serket Jewelry considers the uniqueness of each customer. Therefore, we do not reproduce an exclusive piece. If someone proudly wears a piece we made and it makes them feel wonderful, then we want them to "own" the experience for themselves and not feel they have to share it.
From concept to creation, we foster the imaginations and dreams within Lyn's home to create your special piece. There is without a doubt, oodles of laughter and joy that goes into every handcrafted piece created. Serket Jewelry strives to stay current with fashion trends and being in the "know." We have a ravenous yearning for newness and an enthusiasm for the memorable. We downright love the expression of delight and animation on our customer's faces as they browse through our collection of jewelry. We love creating custom jewelry for special occasions and everyday outfits. What this correlates to us is a meaning of trust and merit shared within a long lasting relationship. About the Designer & Artist
Lyn Bucalo ~ Owner/Designer/Artisan
Designing and creating jewelry started out as a hobby about 12 years ago. After making several pieces as gifts for friends and family, I decided to turn my hobby into a business in January 2009. I love creating a variety of jewelry such as long beaded necklaces, gem stone earrings, charm bracelets, glass beaded key chains, and Pet jewelry. An area of strong obsession for me is designing "statement necklaces," which are very big, no pun, right now in the fashion industry. Seriously, I could not have chosen a better time to start a business!
My designs are inspired by art, nature and the world around me. Beginning at a very young age, I have always been an Artist. Later, I earned my degree at the University of Cincinnati in 1996 in Commercial and Graphic Art. There are many art mediums I love to explore and work with such as; painting, photography, crafting, beading, drawing, sculpting, pottery, and more. It is my desire, that my love and obsession for designing beautiful jewelry is evident in each and every piece that I create.
Serket Jewelry has a diverse showing of jewelry. You will find everything from simple silver pieces to chunky statements. Imagination runs rapid as we create your one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece. Serket Jewelry has sold at many events including fundraisers, festivals, arts & crafts shows, conventions, home parties, trade-shows, foundations, hospitals, meetings and auctions. Most of the events are within the Tri-state area, however, we have plans to travel across the Nation to exhibit in other fabulous locations.
